Ultrasonic Welder
PFAFF

Ultrasonic welding is perfect medium for re-imagining, re-using and re-cycling materials containing plastic. This machine, reminiscent of a large industrial sewing machine, joins thin plastic film materials together without adhesives or thread and needle  The ultrasonic welder uses the heat produced by ultrasonic vibrations to fuse together the materials that are held under pressure as they move through the rollers of the machine.
The ultrasonic welder is designed to join and/or seal thin film materials that contain some plastic.
Some of the materials that work well include:
  • synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon, polyurethane laminate,
  • plastic sheeting, plastic bags, and drop cloths made of polyethylene
  • tyvek and other non woven textiles made of polyethelyene fibers
People have used the Ultrasonic Welder in the eStudio to experiment with lots of interesting materials.
One of the most surprising and popular materials was bright orange fake fur. This synthetic fur was easily fused with the heat generated by the untrasonic welder.

The ultrasonic welder in the eStudio is designed for small and large scale work.
It accommodates architectural scale as well as wearable scale projects
The ultrasonic welder is ideal for making inflatables, wearables, tents, tubes, large membranes, coverings, bags, cups, capsules, slippers, slip and slides,  etc.
